    By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza .
    The "presidential determination", which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States, was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.
    Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

    His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the     Palestinian territory.

    Obama takes presidential oath again after stumble 2 hrs 51 mins ago (Wednesday, January 21st of 2009)
    "WASHINGTON – After the flub heard around the world, President Barack Obama has taken the oath of office. Again. Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the oath to Obama on Wednesday night at the White House — a rare do-over. The surprise moment came in response to Tuesday's much-noticed stumble, when Roberts got the words of the oath a little off, which prompted Obama to do so, too.
    Don't worry, the White House says: Obama has still been president since noon on Inauguration Day.
    Nevertheless, Obama and Roberts went through the drill again out of what White House counsel Greg Craig called "an abundance of caution."...
    "Yes, I am," Obama said. "And we're going to do it very slowly."
    Roberts then led Obama through the oath without any missteps.
    The president said he did not have his Bible with him, but that the oath was binding anyway.
    The original, bungled version on Tuesday caught observers by surprise and then got replayed on cable news shows.
    It happened when Obama interrupted Roberts midway through the opening line, in which the president repeats his name and solemnly swears.
    Next in the oath is the phrase " ... that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States." But Roberts rearranged the order of the words, not saying "faithfully" until after "president of the United States."
    That appeared to throw Obama off. He stopped abruptly at the word "execute."
    Recognizing something was off, Roberts then repeated the phrase, putting "faithfully" in the right place but without repeating "execute."
    But Obama then repeated Roberts' original, incorrect version: "... the office of president of the United States faithfully."
    Craig, the White House lawyer, said in a statement Wednesday evening: "We believe the oath of office was administered effectively and that the president was sworn in appropriately yesterday. Yet the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of the abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath a second time."
    The Constitution is clear about the exact wording of the oath and as a result, some constitutional experts have said that a do-over probably wasn't necessary but also couldn't hurt. Two other previous presidents have repeated the oath because of similar issues, Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur. "

    The Evangelical Alliance will send President Obama a copy of The Poverty and Justice Bible, published by Bible Society, which is the first to highlight more than 2,000 passages that speak of God’s attitude to poverty and justice. Challenging the notion that the Bible is a dusty, outdated rulebook, it shows that, on the biggest issues of our day, God got there first – and he has something to say.

    An early progress report on President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan overstates by thousands the number of jobs created or saved through the stimulus program, a mistake that White House officials promise will be corrected in future reports.
    The government's first accounting of jobs tied to the $787 billion stimulus program claimed more than 30,000 positions paid for with recovery money. But that figure is overstated by least 5,000 jobs, according to an Associated Press review of a sample of stimulus contracts.
    The AP review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two and sometimes more than four times; and other jobs were credited to stimulus spending when none was produced.
    For example:
    - A company working with the Federal Communications Commission reported that stimulus money paid for 4,231 jobs, when about 1,000 were produced.
    - A Georgia community college reported creating 280 jobs with recovery money, but none was created from stimulus spending.
    - A Florida child care center said its stimulus money saved 129 jobs but used the money on raises for existing employees.
    There's no evidence the White House sought to inflate job numbers in the report. But administration officials seized on the 30,000 figure as evidence that the stimulus program was on its way toward fulfilling the president's promise of creating or saving 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.
    Republican critics say they don't understand how some stimulus projects will create any jobs, reports CBS News chief White House correspondent Chip Reid; for example, half a million dollars to study social networks like Facebook, and $219,000 to study the sex lives of female college freshmen.
    The reporting problem could be magnified Friday when a much larger round of reports is expected to show hundreds of thousands of jobs repairing public housing, building schools, repaving highways and keeping teachers on local payrolls.
    Seven million jobs were lost when the economy tanked and experts caution many of these jobs may never come back. After the eight-month recession in 2001 it took more than five years to fully recover the 2.7 million jobs shed, CBS News correspondent Kelly Wallace reports.
    The White House says it is aware there are problems. In an interview, Ed DeSeve, an Obama adviser helping to oversee the stimulus program, said agencies have been working with businesses that received the money to correct mistakes. Other errors discovered by the public also will be corrected, he said.
    "If there's an error that was made, let's get it fixed," DeSeve said.
    The White House released a statement early Thursday that it said laid out the "real facts" about how jobs were counted in the stimulus data distributed two weeks ago. It said that had been a test run of a small subset of data that had been subjected only to three days of reviews, that it had already corrected "virtually all" the mistakes identified by the AP and that the discovery of mistakes "does not provide a statistically significant indication of the quality of the full reporting that will come on Friday."
    The data partially reviewed by the AP for errors included all the data presently available, representing all known federal contracts awarded to businesses under the stimulus program. The figures being released Friday include different categories of stimulus spending by state governments, housing authorities, nonprofit groups and other organizations.
    As of early Thursday, on its recovery.org Web site, the government was still citing 30,383 as the actual number of jobs linked so far to stimulus spending, despite the mistakes the White House has now acknowledged and said were being corrected.
    It's not clear just how far off the 30,000 claim was. The AP's review was not an exhaustive accounting of all 9,000 contracts, but homed in on the most obvious cases where there were indications of duplications or misinterpretations.
    While the thousands of overstated jobs represent a tiny sliver of the overall economy, they represent a significant percentage of the initial employment count credited to the stimulus program.
    Tom Gavin, a spokesman for the White House budget office, attributed the errors to officials as well as recipients having to conduct such reporting for the first time.
    In fact, the AP review shows some businesses undercounted the number of jobs funded under the stimulus program by not reporting jobs saved.
    Here are some of the findings:
    - Colorado-based Teletech Government Solutions on a $28.3 million contract with the Federal Communications Commission for creation of a call center, reported creating 4,231 jobs, although 3,000 of those workers were paid for five weeks or less.
    "We all felt it was an appropriate way to represent the data at the time" and the reporting error has been corrected, said company president Mariano Tan.
    - The Toledo, Ohio-based Koring Group received two FCC contracts, again for call centers. It reported hiring 26 people for each contract, or a total of 52 jobs, but cited the same workers for both contracts. The jobs only lasted about two months.
    The FCC spotted the problem. The company's owner, Steve Holland, acknowledged the actual job count is closer to five and blamed the problem on confusion about the reporting.
    The AP's review identified nearly 600 contracts claiming stimulus money for more than 2,700 jobs that appear to have similar duplicated counts.
    - Barbara Moore, executive director of the Child Care Association of Brevard County in Cocoa, Fla., reported that the $98,669 she received in stimulus money saved 129 jobs at her center, though the cash was used to give her 129 employees a 3.9 percent cost-of-living raise. She said she needed to boost their salaries because some workers had left "because we had not been able to give them a raise in four years."
    - Officials at East Central Technical College in Douglas, Ga., said they now know they shouldn't have claimed 280 stimulus jobs linked to more than $200,000 to buy trucks and trailers for commercial driving instruction, and a modular classroom and bathroom for a health education program.
    "It was an error on someone's part," said Mike Light, spokesman for the Technical College System of Georgia. The 280 were not jobs, but the number of students who would benefit, he said.
    - The San Joaquin, Calif., Regional Rail Commission reported creating or saving 125 jobs as part of a stimulus project to lay railroad track. Because the project drew from two pools of money, the commission reported the jobs figure twice, bringing the total to 250 on the government report. Spokesman Thomas Reeves said the commission corrected the data Tuesday.

    Earlier this year when I was recording American Prayer, a song I originally co-wrote with Bono, the phrase, "When you get to the top of the mountain, remember me" seemed to take on a whole new resonance, given the inspirational candidacy of Barack Obama. The song always contained one of my favorite passages from Dr. King, which was hauntingly delivered the night before he was assassinated. King says: "I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land!" People long for a connection— whether it is to music, to their country, or to a big idea. Regardless of what happens in November, Senator Obama has reminded millions of people that they have the power to connect to bigger ideas. He is, in essence, the embodiment of a new anthem for change. He has continued King's narrative from what was once thought of as a dream to a reality. I find it especially relevant that Barack Obama will accept the Democratic Party Nomination for President 45 years to the day of King's "I Have a Dream" speech. When we were originally writing the song, Bono was crafting the words in a way that would make people think about the fact that 'America' as a concept was a truly great idea, based on the bedrock of equality. I find it more pertinent than ever to release it now; to the moment America finds itself in, daring to re-imagine itself and its place in the world. When I set out to make a video for the new version of this song, I wanted to honor all of those millions of people, especially young people, who are, for the first time, feeling empowered to voice their beliefs. I wanted to capture how Obama's message of change has echoed across the broad fabric of what is America. To do that, we've cast the film with an eclectic array of personalities, including Forest Whitaker, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Cyndi Lauper, Barry Manilow, Joan Baez, Macy Gray and Joss Stone. They appear alongside veterans, teachers and everyday citizens— all of whom have been touched by this simple idea of change.     • "President Obama had his first meeting with Rev. Billy Graham on Sunday, stopping at the Blue Ridge Mountains retreat of the 91-year old evangelist on his way to West Virginia to eulogize the 29 coal miners who died there.
    "The President had a private prayer and conversation with Rev. Graham," said White House spokesman Bill Burton. "He is extraordinarily gratified that he took the time to meet with him."
    Graham issued a statement after the meeting, saying ""I am pleased to have had President Obama in my home this afternoon. I want to encourage Christians everywhere to pray for our president and for all those in positions of authority and especially for the men and women serving in our military."
    The Charlotte Observer said Graham's son, Franklin, who also was on hand, said "Daddy reminisced a little bit about the first time he met a president, Truman. My father told the president that he stays out of politics (now). And the president said, 'I wish I could.' "
    The Observer also quoted Graham spokesman Larry Ross as saying that Obama had told Graham, as have other chief executives, how lonely, demanding and humbling the presidency can be.
    Obama had been supposed to meet Graham during the 2008 campaign when he was at a nearby resort preparing for a debate with Republican John McCain. But Graham, in frail health, was not well enough that day to meet Obama and the visit was put off. Obama did speak to Graham by telephone on his birthday last November.
    During the call, they talked again about meeting and Obama, who had been on a getaway weekend with First Lady Michelle in nearby Asheville, made the 15 mile trip to Graham's Montreat home.
    "Reverend Graham has obviously been an important spiritual leader for past presidents and for the American people for decades," said Burton. "He's a real treasure for our country. The president appreciates the opportunity to visit him at his home."
    On Graham's health, Burton told reporters while Obama was inside that it "sounds like he's pretty good. Sounds like he's got some of the creaks that come with advancing age bu he's still as sharp as he ever was."
    Graham, who suffers from failing eyesight and hearing, now has had meetings with 12 presidents including Obama and has been a frequent guest at the White House. Three former presidents -- Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton -- helped the evangelist dedicate the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C. in 2007.
    Also present was Graham's son, Franklin, who has been in the midst of a controversy after the military rescinded an invitation to him to attend a prayer service at the Pentagon.
    The Pentagon disinvited the younger Graham because of remarks he made in 2001 describing Islam as evil. An Army spokesman called the remarks "not appropriate." The May 6 event was organized by the National Day of Prayer Task Force of which Graham is honorary co-chair. The task force coordinates the event with the Pentagon chaplain's office.
    Franklin Graham said the subject came up during the visit and that Obama had said he'd look into it, but Graham didn't know if he would be re-invited, according to the Observer.

For all those that believe Barack is not worthy because he has not stood strongly enough in regards to abortion. Stop Judging him and get on your knees and Pray for him. If many do this, do you think God could bring that wall down in Baracks life? It would also help for us to take the specks out of your own eyes. What have you done to help stop abortions from occuring? Barack will do more than most of us will in helping lower the abortion rates.So when it comes to this subject where do you rate on the scale of actually doing something about it?
